May the Road Rise Up to Meet You

So, here we are, another pilgrimage in the books!

After a last morning yoga practice on Friday, we all went our separate ways. Some of us are home and some of us are still in Ireland.

As I was teaching my yoga class today, once again I was struck by how life changing pilgrimage is. We can never know how we will be changed, but every time we embark on one of these journeys, we are. The fruits of the journey may be evident immediately, but some of what was planted in our pilgrimage time may not germinate for a while.

This week, I myself am reflecting on how the elements of Celtic spirituality that Susan taught are so embedded in the character of the Irish people. This is not saying it is everyone, and no doubt I am romanticizing, as everyone is ultimately human, but we certainly encountered many people that were so deeply steeped in this ancient way of being, whether or not they were aware of it. I am reflecting on how it would be to live so deeply connected to nature and mystery, hospitality and lightheartedness.

When I am open and meditating or, as I said, teaching yoga, I can see that I myself have been changed by this journey. I am interested to see how it all blossoms. More than that, it has been my joy to take this journey with many other brave pilgrims, and it is my prayer that the fruits of this journey help to nourish them as they all continue to follow their own paths.
