A reminder of where we are going!

what a gift to walk this sacred path after a pandemic

We were all so grateful to walk the Camino together after such a long time with travel restrictions. Our group came from across 4 time zones to gather in Lugo, where we spent a day transitioning into pilgrimage time. We enjoyed a beautiful despacho prayer ceremony to set our intentions for the journey and witness each person’s transformation to being a pilgrim. The next day we started in Sarria, walking 108 km, and we all made it! It was clear that the group had all been walking a lot over the summer, as there were no major injuries and everyone kept up. The weather for all of our days together was absolutely magical, as was the comraderie of the group, as everyone came with an open heart and really enjoyed each other’s company. There were forcasts of rain, but we never experienced it, nor did it get too hot. When we arrived in the city, the Holy door was open and there was no line, so we were able to go through easily. On our day in Santiago, we were thrilled to return to the cathedral for pilgrim’s mass and were fortunate that the botofumiero flew. On Saturday, our retreat time together ended with a closing ceremony and lunch on the beach. For more details about the trip, please see our blog posts from there. A journey of the soul is so difficult to describe, but this was a time of joy!

Here we are at the start of the original way, the Camino that follows the path the relics took up the estuary.

What some of our pilgrims had to say about this Camino journey

“A trip of a lifetime” That is how I would describe “A Pilgrimage on the Ancient Spiritual Path of the Camino de Santiago” run by Nancy and Hugh Murray with Deep Peace. This was a trip filled with intention, filled with fun and exploration and filled (obviously) with walking on the path that thousands have touched for over a thousand years. Nancy and Hugh put forth so much effort and energy to make our trip/journey meaningful. Yoga, poem readings and words to think about each day made this passage so meaningful. I so enjoyed the pace of the day as it unfolded that was set by both Nancy and Hugh. We each found our own meaning from the trip. Between being unplugged from our phones and to some extent life and the delicious picnic lunches provided by Jose, the delightful bed and breakfasts where we stayed each night, the comradery that was built amongst the travelers on the trip and the well thought out details made this trip so unbelievable! Thank you, Nancy and Hugh for the privilege of traveling with you. Tammy Kelly. La Quinta, CA

The Camino worked its magic once again!

We met in Madrid and entered pilgrimage time and space together on a train from Madrid to Lugo, where we were met by our guide, Jose. Some of us walked 112 km from Sarria and others walked 108 km, but we all made it! The weather had several expressions of perfect for the walk - mostly fair weather and a bit of rain on the last walking day so we could all try out our rain equipment! We enjoyed walking together and alone and learned a lot about ourselves. We arrived in Santiago wet but grateful that the rain stopped! On Sunday, our retreat time together ended with a closing ceremony and lunch on the beach. For more details about the trip, please see our blog posts from there. A walk down the Camino is impossible to encapsulate here or in the blogs, but we are grateful that we were able to experience this ineffable place once again. Life is never the same after a Camino walk, and the insights we have learned will seep into us for days and years to come.

Celtic Magic in ireland

We had a great group of open hearted pilgrims for this rich week of experiencing our connection to each other and to the earth. We experienced yoga and meditation in the amazing room pictured above, as well as outside. We learned about the Celtic people and their spirituality, and then found living examples of this philosophy in the people we met. We learned so much about geology and nature during hikes on the cliffs, the Burren, and around the retreat center. We were loved and cared for by each other and by the bright staff of the Cliffs of Moher Retreat! Mostly, we were nutured by each other’s company and wisdom. The Jungle worked its magic

We all arrived at the Sanctuary base camp at the same time and with great anticipation walked 1 km up the river to the Sanctuary. It was a very magical place and we spent 6 nights connecting to ourselves, the nature there and the divine. We experienced yoga, guided meditation, and other workshops, all enhanced greatly by the environment around us! We enjoyed 3 amazing gourmet meals a day - really can’t have enough superlatives to describe the entire dining experience. We felt so nurtured inside and out! This is a trip that is almost impossible to describe in words. If you would like to read the blog posts from when we were there, please click here.

What some of our pilgrims had to say about their experience in Costa Rica:

The yoga/meditation retreat to the Sanctuary at Two Rivers was an amazing week. Nancy Murray and Nancy Sinchak were inspiring teachers. I particularly liked the morning meditation and yoga sessions - although I had to push myself to get up and going in the morning it was well worth the effort. The wellness Ritual at the waterfall was exceptionally inspiring. The jungle, accommodations and food were outstanding. I could go on and on about the wonderful week filled with meditation, yoga, serious reflections and tons of fun, laughs and love. Thank you to my Tribe of Jungle ladies and especially our two very knowledgeable, patient and special ladies Nancy and Nancy for a week that will always have a place in my heart. - Margo K., North Palm Beach, FL

We met in Madrid and entered pilgrimage time and space together on a train from Madrid to Lugo, where we were met by our guide, Jose. Some of us walked 112 km from Sarria and others walked 108 km, but we all made it - walking all the way with little incident of injury, save for a few blisters. The weather was perfect for the walk, and we enjoyed walking together and alone and encountered many Camino miracles. After an exhilarating arrival in Santiago, we enjoyed a day in Compostela, where we saw the magnificent Botafumeiro in the cathedral. What some of our pilgrims had to say about their experience on the Camino:

"What an amazing trip! It far exceeded my expectations. Walking the Camino was incredible and magical. Nancy, Angela and Jose were all wonderful guides. Jose's lunches were the best!" Renee H, West Hartford, CT

"It was awesome! You can’t know until you walk it. You can read every book, watch every film, but it cannot transmit the experience of being there & how it transforms something in your soul. Nancy & Angela did an amazing job.” Piper S., West Hartford, CT

Our time on the magical Isle of Iona was rich and enlightening!  We had a wonderful group of open hearted pilgrims - ready to take on the expected and the unexpected!  Our days were framed by the two services led by the Iona community.  Those who chose to gathered in the Abbey to start and end the day with words and song.  Early morning activities included group chanting and Reiki with Nancy Murray, hiking and sleeping in.  Susan Izard would start us at breakfast sharing a word for the day and a spiritual focal point for us to contemplate as we moved through the day.  Every day we would have a guided hike by Scott Bailey, were we explored different parts of the coast of the Island and learned about its amazing geological history.  The days ended with yoga, group meetings with sharing and learning, dinner and sunset walks or service.

It is very difficult to encapsulate the experience in a brief narrative, so if you would like more details about the journey, we encourage you to go to our blog, where we journalled each day.

If you are interested in journeying with Scott, Susan and Nancy, consider joining us in Ireland in May 2019.

What some of our pilgrims had to say about their experience on Iona:

" I loved everything, the wind, rain, cold, sun, hikes, morning time with Nancy, food, accommodations, puffins, rocks, teachings, bus rides, ferry rides, sunsets, rainbows along with the sounds of the waves, birds, and lambs!"  Cathi Nelson, West Hartford, CT

"Thank you Nancy, Susan and Scott for a truly memorable vacation. The whole trip was well organized and seamless from the travel to and from Iona, to the cozy accommodations, delicious food and professional staff @ the St Columba Hotel. It was an added bonus to have Scott share his wealth of knowledge, regarding the geology of the island. The daily prayers, yoga, and abbey services were beautiful opportunities to connect with the island and its people on a deeper level. Our evening gathering before dinner was a wonderful way to come back together and share our thoughts and experiences.
I'm grateful to have been able to experience Iona and all its beauty with enthusiastic, experienced guides that shared their favorite beaches and vistas with us. I look forward to another visit to Iona with Deep Peace."  Rose Dufour, Branford, CT

"I am grateful that our wonderful leaders built a supportive, affirmative community of Pilgrims. I felt privileged to be part of a group of seekers who had “come away for awhile” to reflect, observe, and grow...
There is something Holy about that experience. A time away, a time to shed our baggage, and a time to hit the reset button. ..
I feel renewed, at peace, and energized...Thanks to our 3 wonderful leaders who guided us through true Pilgrimage. Thanks to all of you for sharing your enthusiasm, hearts, and spirit."  Ann Mundy, Westfield, MA
