Closing the dream

Saturday morning, I woke up somewhere around 4 and decided to spend the remainder of my rest in my hammock. I swayed in the hammock and watched the sky brighten as the sun rose. Bats swirled around, and Venus, the morning star shined brightly. That night had been warm compared to the coolness of the rest of the evenings and we were visited by a stiff breeze from the west all nigh and all day, sweeping us back to civilization.

We left in waves, walking and riding the ATV out of the jungle. Our final breakfast was bittersweet and we all said goodbye to each other, the sanctuary hosts, and the sanctuary jungle itself in our own ways.

It feels like it might have been a dream, but our hearts and our spirits know that it wasn't.  We will carry the light of this week with us forever.
